Three Day Care Survivors Become 2011 High School Graduates

May 19, 2011

Each year we watch progress of those who survived, the families of those who were killed and so many changed forever.

This week we celebrate the graduations of three of the six surviving children from the America’s Kids Day Care that was located in the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building the morning it was bombed. P.J. Allen, who was 18 months old at the time of the bombing, graduated Tuesday, May 17th, from Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School. Rebecca Denny, who was 2 ½ years old – now 18, will graduate Friday, May 20th, from Mount Saint Mary High School in Oklahoma City. Her brother Brandon, who was three years – old now 19, will graduate from U.S. Grant on Tuesday. All three of these kids experienced life-threatening inuries from the blast, but have made remarkable recoveries over the past 16 years. Read these heart-warming stories by columnist Bryan Painter that were featured in The Oklahoman this week.
