Memorial & Museum Executive Director Speaks to Broadcast Journalism Students

Memorial & Museum Executive Director Kari Watkins speaks to a University of Oklahoma Broadcast Journalism class today as part of a two day series associated with the 2011 JayMac Distinguished Alumni Event at the school’s Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication. Watkins is receiving the award on Thursday along with fellow honorees Mick Cornett, Mayor of Oklahoma City, and Howard Price, owner and president of Multi-Net Marketing in Colorado Springs. Jake Basden, Director of Publicity for Big Machine Label Group in Nashville will be honored as he Young Professional of the Year.

Watkins recounted and shared the importance of including the media throughout the Memorial process, and reflected on how the media has told the story of the Oklahoma City bombing and the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum through historical photos, video accounts and social media.
