New I-40 Crosstown Expressway Opens
Changes Exit to the Memorial & Museum From the West

Drivers, including tourists from across the country, traveling through downtown Oklahoma City heading east are driving on a magnificent new interstate following the opening of the new I-40 crosstown. Westbound lanes are expected to open in several weeks.

This is fantastic news for travelers and Oklahomans, but if you are heading to the Memorial & Museum or downtown Oklahoma City in general from the west and driving east, exits have changed.

To reach the Memorial, you can choose one of these options.

  1. Exit Western.
    Go north on Western and turn right on Fifth or Sixth Streets to be at the Memorial & Museum entrance in just minutes.
  2. Exit Shields, which becomes E.K.Gaylord and take E.K. Gaylord to Broadway.
    Turn left at Fifth and Broadway.
    There is a parking lot and you will be at the Gate of Time on the east side of the Memorial.
    Walk through the Memorial to the Museum entrance on the northwest side of the 3.3 acre site.

Anyway you get here we are excited to welcome you to Oklahoma City and are thrilled with the newest infrastructure in our city. Oklahoma City is clearly a city where the hope and resilience of the people are evident as you travel on this beautiful new interstate to experience the Memorial & Museum and other places in downtown Oklahoma City.
