President's Day at the Memorial & Museum

February 20, 2012

Navy Sailor Marino Calcagno, Petty Officer Third Class, chose the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum as the site for his reenlistment ceremony. Despite the cold and windy weather, Officer Marino gathered around the Survivor Tree with his friends, family and commanding officer to make a promise to serve our nation for another four years. Officer Marino, although not from Oklahoma, knows the impact April 19th made on his new home and the rest of the world. He chose this location as a symbol of his dedication to serve and protect.

Catholic Charities of Oklahoma City celebrates 100 years of service in Oklahoma, and the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum is the host site of the festivities! The celebration Mass is at 4 p.m. today in St. Joseph Old Cathedral, located at 307 N.W. 4th St. The Memorial & Museum will host the reception and program following Mass. The Memorial site has a strong historical connection to the local Catholic church. Before the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building, this site housed St. Joseph’s school for children and is now surrounded by St. John’s Catholic Church and St. Anthony’s hospital. For more information on Catholic Charities of Oklahoma City and the celebration, contact 405.526.2308 or jmoon@catholiccharitiesok.org.
