Charles Barkley Donates Signed Thunder Boots to
Memorial & Museum

June 04, 2012
NBA hall of famer and TNT Sportscaster Charles Barkley has had some outrageous and funny commentary about Oklahoma City for several years as a basketball analyst often covering the Oklahoma City Thunder.
With the Thunder making it to the Western Conference Playoffs, Barkley had the good fortune to visit Oklahoma City in early June to cover the basketball games. He spent one afternoon touring Oklahoma City and he capped off his tour of the city by visiting the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum.
“I am so glad I took the time to come here. It was one of the most powerful places I have ever visited,” Barkley told the TV audience during the pre-game show of TNT’s coverage of the OKC Thunder-San Antonio Spurs playoff game. “Everybody should make a trip here just to see this place and don’t just see the Memorial, take time to go into the Museum.”

As part of the Oklahoma hospitality, Barkley received several pairs of famous Oklahoma cowboy boots. These size 16 boots were presented to Barkley by the OKC Thunder and its mascot Rumble the Bison during part of the pre-game festivities. Barkley was so moved by his tour and what he saw at the Memorial & Museum, he signed these boots and left them behind as a token of thanks to the people of Oklahoma City. The boots will be displayed in the Memorial Museum lobby.
