18th Annual Day of Remembrance

April 19, 2013

This year’s Remembrance Ceremony was emceed by Memorial Foundation Chairman Gary Pierson and located in the First United Methodist Church. Governor Mary Fallin, Representative James Lankford and Vice Mayor Pay Ryan spoke. As is tradition, we observed 168 seconds of silence at 9:02 a.m., led by Jon Wallace, reflecting the moment the nation was changed forever. George Skramstad played piano and violin beautifully before and after the ceremony, and Campbell Walker Fields sang the national anthem with such meaning the entire crowd joined in.

Please be sure to post pictures and stories on the Memorial social media pages today. Use hashtag #ForeverChanged to share your story with others.

The Memorial Museum is FREE today thanks to Cox Community Day! Cox Community Day aims to ensure all are able to learn the lessons of the Oklahoma City bombing, and we encourage all to join us during this Day of Remembrance.

Roses were placed on each chair in the Field of Empty Chairs today to honor those who were lost special thanks to Teleflora and New Leaf Floral. Museum visitors were able to take a Survivor Tree seedling with them, thanks to the Oklahoma State Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry.
