Field Of Empty Chairs Receives Extra Care

Landscape technicians from Oakley’s Landscaping hand cut the grass along the edges of the glass base of each chair in the Field of Empty Chairs. The work is painstaking and slow, but necessary to ensure the glass is protected from breaking under stress from traditional edging methods. Maintenance of the Outdoor Symbolic Memorial is funded through Memorial Museum ticket sales, Memorial Store sales, and donations from citizens, foundations, corporations and proceeds from the annual Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon. The Memorial does not receive annual government funding.
