First Person - Stories of Hope Features Charlie Hanger and Ellie Lottinville

August 06, 2008
More than 40 Oklahoma Career Tech educators heard first hand accounts of the April 19, 1995, events from two first responders involved in law enforcement and mental health efforts surrounding the bombing.
On April 19, 1995, after making a routine traffic stop, Charlie Hanger made an arrest that would be a turning point in his career. That was the arrest of Timothy McVeigh, who was later charged, convicted and executed for the bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building. Now sheriff of Noble County, Oklahoma, Hanger talked about his experience.
Hanger was joined by Dr. Ellie Lottinville, a psychologist involved in debriefing of first responders at the scene and coordinator of notification efforts for families of victims in the days following the bombing.
First Person – Stories of Hope is presented each Friday at 1:30 in the Museum through August 29, and by request to groups visiting the Memorial Museum.
