Memorial Houses Rental Truck Trial Exhibit Pieces

August 12, 2008

Pieces of the rental truck carrying the explosives used in the 1995 bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building, which were used as evidence in the trials against the perpetrators are now housed at the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum.

Following the trials, the Memorial received four of the main trial exhibit pieces including the license plate, rear axle housing and two pieces of box side panel. These pieces have been on display in the Memorial Museum since 2004.

The Memorial received 33 of the largest pieces, which were used as evidence in the trials to illustrate the great distances the parts were thrown by the blast, in 2006. These pieces have also been incorporated into the permanent exhibit.

In addition, the Memorial now houses the remainder of the thousands of rental truck fragments, which arrived on five pallets from the FBI in June 2007. These items had been stored in an FBI warehouse since they were collected in 1995.
