Memorial Volunteer Program Spotlight - Annetta McCoy

August 26, 2008
Annetta McCoy has been part of the Memorial Volunteer Program (MVP) since October 2001. Her commitment and dedication to the Memorial mission has been a true inspiration to all she has met during the past 7 years. This is her story.
“During the year after the bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building, I worked as a FEMA Crisis Intervention Counselor with the students and staff of the Oklahoma City Public Schools. Several years later in Denver, Colorado, I volunteered as a mental health counselor working with the survivors and families who weekly attended the trial of Timothy McVeigh.”
“I spent many hours with these wonderful individuals in Oklahoma City and Denver listening to their stories and their varied feelings of shock, disbelief, anger, sadness and profound grief. Their courage and resilience touched my heart and truly changed me forever."
“When the opportunity occurred for me to be trained in the Memorial Volunteer Program, I was delighted — and still am! Being part of this story, working here with friends and staff, and weekly greeting our marvelous visitors continue to enrich my life”
The Memorial is always looking for individuals who wish to help tell our story, and touch people's lives from accross the globe. We encourage you to apply online for an MVP position by clicking the following link.
