Oklahoma City Elementary School Receives Award for Highest Participation in 2008 Memorial Kids Marathon

Students at Madison Elementary in Oklahoma City received the award for highest participation in the 2008 Oklahoma City Memorial Kids Marathon. Sixty percent of the student body participated in the marathon last year, the most of any school that entered. Memorial Development Director Stacey Weddington and local NBC affiliate and Marathon media partner KFOR anchor Kevin Ogle presented the school with the traveling participation trophy and a check for $500 to benefit their physical education department.
Madison students are now gearing up for the April 26, 2009, Kids Marathon. Students will run or walk 25 miles before the race, and on race day will run the final 1.2 miles to complete the marathon.
