Oklahoma Legislature Considering House Bill 1334

March 23, 2009
The Oklahoma Legislature is considering House Bill 1334, which is an act that relates to all state records, documents, photographs, memorabilia and other materials pertaining to the April 19, 1995, bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City. The bill authorizes state agencies to transfer certain state records to the Oklahoma City National Memorial Foundation. The bill reads, "It is the intent of the Legislature that the Foundation be a repository for state records and materials in the custody, control or possession of state agencies."
This allows for all records related to this act to be housed in one place and more easily accessible to researchers. The bill is authored by Representative Lee Denney and Senator Brian Bingman. It passed out of the General Government Committee today in the Oklahoma State Senate and will now go to a full vote of the Senate. The Bill has already passed the House of Representatives. Our thanks to Senator Bingman and Representative Denney for understanding and appreciating the resources of the Oklahoma City National Memorial’s archives and what it provides to historians today and into the future.
