FedEx Helps Hope Trunks offer Lessons of Memorial to Students Across the Country

April 30, 2009

Thanks to FedEx, schools in six different communities in Oklahoma and Texas are going to learn lessons from the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum in their classrooms this week.

The Hope Trunk: An Offering of Positive Education is a program using the story of the bombing to educate students about the senselessness of violence and the need to find more peaceful means to solve our differences. The trunk, which a school may use for two weeks, contains artifacts, visual materials, and classroom exercises that may be used as a stand alone unit or incorporated into regular math, geography and reading/literature lessons. The trunks are used by some schools to prepare students for a visit to the Memorial and Museum. Shipping is provided courtesy of FedEx.

This school year, the Hope Trunk has been to over 70 schools in 11 states.  More than 8,000 students have participated in Hope Trunk activities in their classrooms this year.

To order a Hope Trunk for your school, please use the online form.
