Students From Perry, Oklahoma, Watch Their Home Town in New Memorial Video

May 21, 2009

A new video in the Museum's Behind the Scene exhibit shows how life changed in two small towns after the Oklahoma City bombing. Perry, Oklahoma and Herington, Kansas, two towns separated by miles from Oklahoma City still felt the effects of April 19, 1995. Museum visitors will understand through interviews and stock footage how each of the two towns were connected to the bombing, and how they dealt with being on the forefront of national news.

Today, Student Council members of Perry Mid-High toured the Memorial Museum and watched the video depicting their hometown. They reflected with Memorial staff afterwards how the video affected them.

  • "People don’t talk about it. You would think somebody would mention it but nobody does."
    Lauryn Sullin, Student
  • "I know everybody in the video!"
    Brook Zerr, Student
  • "It’s crazy that they caught him (McVeigh). A one in a million chance."
    Bryce Baird, Student
  • "It wasn’t some big 'ah ha' TV moment when he was caught. If anything would have gone different he would have gotten away. Normal people were just doing their jobs."
    Jack Comstock, Counselor
