Oklahoma Highway Patrol Cadets Tour Memorial

June 13, 2009

Members of the spring 2009 class of Oklahoma Highway Patrol cadets toured the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum. The tour is part of the training curriculum for all OHP cadets, and shows them the important role law enforcement plays in the rescue, recovery and investigation during acts of terrorism. The cadets also heard former OHP Trooper and current Noble County (Oklahoma) Sheriff Charlie Hanger discuss his arrest of bombing perpetrator Timothy McVeigh less than two hours after the bombing.

Hanger will recount his experience as the final speaker for the 2009 First Person: Stories of Hope summer series. Memorial Museum visitors will be able to hear from Hanger, Friday August 28, at 1:30 p.m.
