First Person: Stories of Hope
Features Survivor Laura Oak and Her Husband, Mark

July 02, 2009

Each Friday this summer, visitors to the Oklahoma City National Memorial Museum will have a unique opportunity to hear from some of the people most affected by the April 19, 1995, bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City.

Join us this Friday at 1:30 p.m. inside the Memorial Museum.

This Week’s Featured Speaker

Laura and Mark Oak
Survivor, Oklahoma Water Resources Board

Laura Oak could see the Murrah Building from the window of her cubicle on the third floor of the Oklahoma Water Resources Board Building. On April 19, 1995, six months pregnant with her first child, she was excited to be wearing a new maternity dress to work. Laura experienced severe lacerations and significant blood loss, as well as premature labor. She still works for the Oklahoma Water Resources Board as an accountant. Mark is an Edmond police officer and they have three children.

First Person: Stories of Hope presentations are free with paid admission to the Memorial Museum. This program is also available by advanced reservation for groups touring the Memorial and Museum.
