This Week’s Featured Speaker

Cynthia Ferrell Ashwood & Albert Ashwood

Cindy Ferrell Ashwood and her family spent Easter 1995 with her older sister, Susan. Three days later, Susan, an attorney for the Department of Housing and Urban Development, was killed in the bombing of the Murrah Building. Albert Ashwood was first on the scene for the Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management (OEM), arriving approximately 25 minutes after the explosion. He headed forward operations for the first three days before turning his attention to the administration of recovery efforts. Cindy Ashwood, who has both journalism and law degrees from the University of Oklahoma, is a solo practioner with the law firm of Vassar & Vassar in Chandler. Albert Ashwood, appointed Director of the OEM in 1997, has served in a variety of national positions working to enhance the ability of the United States to manage domestic incidents and emergencies. They are the parents of two children, Donald, 20, and Rachel, 15.
