Memorial Announces 2010 Student Essay Contest Topics

The April 19, 1995, bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City occurred because one person chose violence as a means to express disagreement and effect change – and 168 innocent people were killed. The quotations selected for the 2010 Student Essay Contest are from people with a personal connection to the bombing, and highlight the importance of courage, strength and hope in the decisions we make in our lives.

More than 3500 students participated in the 2009 contest, resulting in 742 entries from 42 states and the District of Columbia. Winners were from California, New Jersey, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.
