German Police Officers Visit Memorial as Part of STAR International

October 05, 2009

Eight police officers from Hamburg, Germany, visited the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum as part of STAR - International, an exchange program between Germany and police departments in 6 states across the United States. Hamburg, a city of 1.8 million, has a police department of 9,000 officers assigned to many diverse departments. The Yukon Police Department sponsored this trip, which Officer Jim Mighton, Vice President of the Oklahoma STAR Chapter, said includes training, working and living among operational police organizations. Mighton said the trip to the Memorial has been included in their agenda for the past three years because of the historical event, the role played by local police departments and the effect it had upon officers and their families.
