Why Do We Market the Memorial?

The Memorial spends a very small portion of its annual operating budget each year on marketing and advertising. This is important so that as people make plans to travel to Oklahoma or are traveling across the United States, there is an awareness of the Memorial and Museum. The advertising works to ensure the visitor schedules enough time to tour both the Outdoor Symbolic Memorial and Memorial Museum, as each is an essential part of this story.
We rely on our professional partners at Jordan Associates Advertising & Communications to help us spread our message with our limited funds. We do this through marketing to both consumer travelers and motor coach operators in print, billboards and limited television and radio. A lot of our advertising dollars are in-kind and donated, or purchased at a discounted rate.
"It is important to make sure people know we are here and come to understand the lessons of what the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum teaches," said Kari Watkins, Executive Director. "It would be criminal to have built this place and not have people know how to get here and why it is such an important stop in their cross country journey or their visit to Oklahoma. We value the time of each visitor and want to make sure they stop here."
