U.S. Army Sergeant Surprises Father at Memorial

U. S. Army Sergeant Cory Washington made a surprise visit to his father, Michael Washington, at the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum. Sergeant Washington, who began 15 days of leave today, is serving with the 401st Engineer Company near Baghdad and has been stationed in Iraq since March 2009. Michael Washington is a Park Guide with the National Park Service and has been at the Memorial for four years.

The Memorial is an affiliate site of the National Park Service, owned and operated by the Oklahoma City Memorial Foundation, a private 501(c)3. The National Park Service does interpretation for visitors on the Outdoor Symbolic Memorial. The Memorial and Museum receives no annual operating funds from federal, state, or city governments.
