Survivor Fran Ferrari Shares First Person Story with
Magdalen Catholic School Students

October 23, 2009
First Person – Stories of Hope provides a unique experience: students interact with someone who was directly impacted by the April 19, 1995, bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building. Eighth graders from Magdalen Catholic School in Wichita, KS, heard Fran Ferrari tell her story and had the opportunity to ask questions about the events of that day and her recovery. Magdalen students, who are participating for the second year in the Memorial’s Called2Change program, viewed the video Tapestry as part of their preparation for visiting the Memorial and Museum, so they were familiar with Ferrari’s story immediately following the bombing. Teacher Judi Salo said students were saddened when they heard her discuss her love for riding on the video, because she said she doubted she would ride again. They were pleased to learn that she is riding again, and had several questions for her about the process that enabled her to get back on a horse.
Programs are available via distance learning or Web cam as well. For more information or to schedule a program, click here.
