Just a Walk in the Park
October 27, 2009
These pictures were taken under less than ideal conditions. The weather was warm, yet windy and overcast. The Oklahoma City National Memorial is near the end point of my daily commute to work. On the day these pictures were taken, I was with a friend sharing our morning break. We observed how beautiful the grounds around the Memorial looked and he commented that one tree in particular "looked like it was on fire."
I was not very optimistic that the digital camera I had at my desk could capture how picturesque the park looked. It was going to rain any moment. So with low expectation, I took a few shots that literally took less than five minutes. But when I downloaded the pictures it occurred to me that something else was going on. They were telling a story about how a whole country helped a city to turn a corner. Like nature was yelling across a busy downtown street: "You’re doing fine Oklahoma!"
