Dell Employees Volunteer Their Time to
Hand-Wash Each Chair

November 20, 2009

Employees from Dell OKC volunteered their afternoon to hand-wash each of the 168 chairs in the Field of Empty Chairs, wrapping up two months of work to rewire and rework the interior electrical wiring of each one. Dell’s Global Community Involvement Campaign has connected Dell employees to local non-profit organizations to create and implement group projects that benefit the community.

"We are absolutely honored to participate in a project as special and touching as the cleaning of the Field of Empty Chairs," said Tom Benson, Site Leader, Dell OKC. "Dell prides itself in helping in the community, and when we were asked to be a part of this project there was no question that we wanted to help. Each of our volunteers view these chairs as representations of the 168 lives lost over 14 years ago, and we will humbly do our part to make sure each chair is taken care of and cleaned properly. The Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum has done a phenomenal job in honoring and remembering those who lost their lives, and Dell thanks them for letting us be involved."
