Oklahoma City Fire Chief Keith Bryant Presents
Murrah Building Granite to United States Fire Administrator

December 10, 2009

Oklahoma City Fire Chief Keith Bryant was recently in Washington, DC, with the Oklahoma State Fire Marshal Ambassadors, a group of fire service leaders from across the state that travels to Washington every year to discuss fire and emergency issues with our congressional delegation. At that time, he met with United States Fire Administrator Kelvin Cochran, who holds this position by presidential appointment and approval of Congress. Cochran was formerly Fire Chief of the Shreveport, Louisiana, Fire Department, which came to Oklahoma City in 1995 to help with peer support counseling after the bombing. In appreciation, Chief Bryant presented a piece of Murrah Building granite to Administrator Cochran, whose department was also here several years earlier when three Oklahoma City firefighters were killed in a flashover. This type of support is invaluable for our emergency personnel during these very traumatic events. Chief Bryant serves on the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum Board of Trustees and chairs the Conscience Committee, representing family members, survivors and rescue workers.
