MVP Spotlight... Sue Craig

February 23, 2010

Sue Craig has been a part of the Memorial Volunteer Program (MVP) since the Memorial Museum opened in 2001. In 2002, Craig was recognized as the Outstanding MVP. Every Thursday and Saturday, Sue greets our visitors and helps to educate about the impact of violence.

In her own words...

On April 19, 1995, I was teaching second graders in Moore, Oklahoma. I was notified soon after the bombing because my aunt was a resident of the Regency Apartment Tower. After 38 years of teaching, I knew that I wanted to spend my time volunteering. I started volunteering at the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum on February 19, 2001 – the first day the Museum opened. Every week, I look forward to volunteering because I meet people from all over the world and get to visit with the staff members; they’re the greatest. The fun part of volunteering is getting to meet some of my favorite newscasters - Linda Cavanaugh, Katie Couric, Brian Williams, and Ann Curry. On February 23rd, I’ll be 72 years young and my plans are to keep volunteering for at least ten more years!
