Texas High School Students Experience Called2Change

February 26, 2010
Juniors and seniors from Legacy Christian Academy, Frisco, TX, toured the Memorial and Museum to learn about the Oklahoma City bombing. After visiting the Memorial two years ago, Principal Adam Housley felt a field trip to the Memorial and Museum would be an effective way to educate his students and today’s youth about the impact of violence and terrorism and the importance of doing the right thing. To help teach these valuable lessons, Lynne Porter, Education Coordinator, visited with Mr. Housley and history teacher Josh Nokes, in Frisco to discuss the Memorial’s program, Called2Change. The students were introduced to the event by participating in Hope Trunk activities prior to their visit. After touring the Outdoor Symbolic Memorial and Museum, the group heard a First Person presentation from survivor Amy Petty, who shared how this event has impacted and shaped her life.
Housley plans to bring juniors and seniors to the Memorial and Museum every other year as part of the Called2Change program.
