Getting Motivated for the
10th Annual Memorial Marathon!

March 05, 2010

The Marathon is only 7 weeks away, but already thousands of runners are training for the Run to Remember! Check out this exciting news for the Kids Marathon, and watch a motivational video from Marathon runner Brendan Brustad.

Kids, Get Ready to Run With Rumble!

Oklahoma City Thunder mascot Rumble the Bison is joining forces with the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon to serve as honorary chair-bison of this year’s Memorial Kids Marathon. Dedicated to improving the health and well-being of children, Rumble will help promote the Sunday, April 25, event and be on-hand -- or on hoof, as the case may be -- for the race and its surrounding festivities. The reigning NBA Mascot of the Year will help lead off more than 3,500 kids at the starting line for the 10th Anniversary Marathon.

Participants in the Memorial Kids Marathon log 25 miles on their training log by having a parent or teacher sign for each mile they walk or run in preparation for race day. On April 25, all registered children will run the final 1.2 miles together on a special course that is closed and safe. Registration is $5 per child and open to kids through 6th grade, including athletes with physical and mental challenges. Parents are encouraged to accompany their children without registering for any of the other events.

The Memorial Marathon is the largest fundraiser for the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum and helps fund the privately owned and operated site.
