Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano to Attend 15th Anniversary Events

April 02, 2010
Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Janet Napolitano will travel to Oklahoma City on Monday, April 19, to commemorate the 15th Anniversary of the Oklahoma City bombing. She will deliver remarks about the Department's efforts to combat and protect against evolving threats of terrorism as part of the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum's annual Remembrance Ceremony.
Her speech will be followed by a tour of the Memorial Museum with first responders. She will then participate in the National Media Symposium "The Public’s Right to Know?" with Mark Halperin, TIME editor-at-large and Mike Boettcher, National Correspondent and Gaylord Visiting Professional Professor at the University of Oklahoma. The National Media Symposium is scheduled for 1:30 in the Memorial Museum.
"We are thrilled the Secretary understands the significance of this site and will join us on this important anniversary. Her insight will add an important element to our message of the day as we continue to teach the impact of terrorism." said Kari Watkins, Executive Director, Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum.
