Preserving History...Fence Items Prepared for
Collections and Education

April 13, 2010
Archives staff and volunteers recently spent a day collecting items from the Fence. The mementos left by visitors from all over the world are periodically removed, cleaned and cataloged for the Museum collection or are incorporated into the Memorial’s Hope Trunk, an educational resource used by teachers across the United States. Items collected include t-shirts, teddy bears, license tags, key chains, jewelry, first responder patches, hats and toys.
These images of wreaths left by family members, survivors and friends are dedicated to those who were killed on April 19, 1995. These items have a special place on the Fence and remain indefinitely under guidelines developed by Archives staff.
