10th Annual Education Summit Begins

Forty teachers from across Oklahoma are participating in the Memorial's Education Summit today and tomorrow. Family member Wendy Lambert began the day sharing her story in the context of the remarkable community response which followed the bombing. Memorial Director of Video Tony Stizza, former KOCO reporter Terri Watkins and Oklahoma City Police Chief Bill Citty provided lessons about crisis communication and the importance of relationships between the media and first responders. Afternoon sessions will feature former FBI Special Investigator Hank Gibbons and Memorial Safety & Security Director Leon Gillum discussing background on the extremist movement and the investigation of the bombing. Memorial and Museum Executive Director Kari Watkins will close today’s session with remarks about creating the Memorial and Museum and the concept of memorialization.
