Memorial Hosts Journalism Students
and Holocaust Education Teachers

June 10, 2010

A group of high school students attending a workshop hosted by the University of Oklahoma’s Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication toured the Memorial and Museum today. The students are part of the Oklahoma Institute in Journalism offered annually to expose youth to careers in the world of daily journalism. The students also heard from Terri Watkins, former reporter for KOCO News 5, and Mike Boettcher, veteran network news correspondent. Both journalists shared their experience of covering the Oklahoma City bombing and answered questions about crisis communications.

Holocaust educators attended a workshop presented by Facing History, sponsored by the Jewish Federation of Greater Oklahoma City and held in the Oklahoma City National Memorial Center for Education & Outreach. The workshop focused on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
