South Asian Journalists Experience
Lessons Learned at Memorial and Museum

June 16, 2010

Nearly 20 South Asian journalists experienced the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum today and saw firsthand the impact of Reporting Terrorism. The journalists toured the Memorial and Museum and the special exhibit and heard stories from renowned foreign correspondent and University of Oklahoma Visiting Professor Mike Boettcher about reporting the story of the Oklahoma City bombing and other international terrorist attacks he has covered over his twenty year career.

"The discussion between the journalists and Mike was as intriguing and frank as I’ve ever witnessed," said Kari Watkins, Executive Director. "They had some incredible questions, doubts and thoughts, and Mike never dodged a question as he explained reporting terrorism from an American journalists perspective. I'm so proud they were able to have the open dialog in our Museum as they looked at photos and videos of reporters doing their job."

The journalists are spending time in Oklahoma this month as part of a cultural exchange with the United States Department of State and the University of Oklahoma College of Journalism.
