Preserving History...
Gifts Continue to Provide Comfort and Hope

August 16, 2010

Following the bombing, people from around the world sent cards and letters, gifts and other expressions of care and concern to the people of Oklahoma City. These many acts of kindness provided comfort and hope to those trying to rebuild their lives and our city.

This wooden sleigh was sent from Cape Canaveral, Florida, to Oklahoma City Mayor Ron Norick's office for the first Christmas after the bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building. The City filled it with poinsettias and placed it in the office entry at City Hall for the month of December 1995. It was then sent to the Oklahoma City National Memorial for preservation. The sleigh is placed in the lobby of the Memorial Museum during the holiday season each year.
