Did You Know?
Trustees Govern the Memorial and Museum Operations

September 10, 2010

Did you know the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum is governed by 37 Trustees and 7 ex-officio members that make up the Oklahoma City National Memorial Foundation? The Foundation, a private, not-for-profit organization, is the guardian, caretaker, operator and owner of the 3.3 acre Outdoor Symbolic Memorial and the 50,000 square foot Museum.

This group meets quarterly, while the standing committees meet between the board meetings to ensure progress and collaboration goals are being met.

These Trustees raise private dollars to operate the national landmark; they are the guardians of the mission; they ensure compliance with legal and financial requirements; they help enforce our policies and guidelines within our organization; they are the partner to the chief executive and the Memorial’s strategic thinkers. They monitor progress, evaluate the organization’s performance and demonstrate integrity in everything they do on behalf of the organization.

“We have a strong board that guides us with their oversight, provides resources, leadership, and a unique passion for our mission,” said Kari Watkins, Executive Director. “This Memorial and Museum was built by a strong group of volunteers and the staff enjoys working with and learning from such a great group of community leaders.”
