Speaks with Students

September 23, 2010

Oklahoma Homeland Security Director Kerry Pettingill spoke with students from Frederick High School Thursday as part of the Museum’s First Person – Stories of Hope program. Pettingill, who began his service to the people of Oklahoma as a Highway Patrol Trooper, shared his experience on April 19, 1995, and the days following, as well as the establishment of the Oklahoma Office of Homeland Security. He discussed the continuing threat of home grown terrorism, cyber-terrorism, and the importance of being vigilant and reporting things that are out of the ordinary.
