Honored in Oklahoma Hall of Fame

Michael C. Turpen, Memorial Trustee, exceptional volunteer, public servant, and attorney, will be honored tonight with Oklahoma’s highest honor, induction into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame. This annual honor is given to Oklahomans who are known for their public service throughout the state.
Turpen has received the Oklahoma Arts Council Governor’s Award for Community Service, Oklahoma Health Center Foundation’s Treasures for Tomorrow Award, University of Tulsa’s Outstanding Alumnus, National Foundation for the Improvement of Justice Award and Lyric Theatre’s John Kirkpatrick Award, for chairing its successful $10 million capital campaign. He was appointed by President Bill Clinton to serve on the Kennedy Center Board in Washington, D.C. He currently serves as president of Lyric Theatre and is on the boards of the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum, where he serves as the chair of the Development Commitee, the Oklahoma State Fair and Allied Arts. He was appointed by Gov. Henry to serve on the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education in 2009. He previously served as president of the CARE Center and founded his Young Men’s Poetry Club.
