Cheyenne Middle School Students Present Gift

November 19, 2010

Since 2005, Cheyenne Middle School has shared a portion of the proceeds from their annual Walk to Remember with the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum. Following their visit to the Memorial today, students Kelsi Hughes, Aaron Duncan and Cameron Duncan joined Assistant Principal Deby McWatters in presenting Director of Education & Research Lynne Roller a check in the amount of $764.35 for 2010. Cheyenne’s total financial support of the Memorial is $5,279.77. In thanking the students, Roller noted, “This gift is especially meaningful because it comes from students. You are our hope for stopping the cycle of violence and terrorism, by acting with respect, resilience and responsibility to make the world a better place.”

The Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum is a private non-profit organization, and does not receive any annual operating funds from the federal, state or local government. Museum admissions, store sales, the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon, earnings from an endowment and private fundraising allow the Memorial and Museum to be self-sustaining.
