Quilts Represent Caring and Comfort

January 03, 2011
Teddy bears and angels cover this quilt (46" x 66") created by Girl Scout Troop 891 of Austin, Texas. The name of each person who was killed in the bombing is cross stitched on the quilt, which includes the signatures of numerous individuals who wanted to share their support with Oklahomans. On August 9, 1995, Governors Frank Keating and George W. Bush signed the back. The quilt was sent to Governor Keating’s office and then transferred to the Oklahoma City National Memorial on June 16, 1996. The Memorial’s collections include many quilts sent as symbols of comfort from across the country.
