Memorial Provides Professional Development
Workshop for Hennessey Faculty

January 04, 2011

Educators from Hennessey Public Schools spent the morning at the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum for a unique professional development experience. Middle School Principal David Garner arranged for staff to learn about the programs, resources and educator workshop the Memorial offers to teach the important lessons of respect, resilience and responsibility which resulted from the 1995 bombing of the Murrah Building. Survivor Amy Petty shared her story in a First Person - Stories of Hope program, discussing the ways in which being buried in rubble and waiting to be rescued changed her perspective on life and what is really important. Executive Director Kari Watkins concluded the session with comments about leadership and the creation of the Memorial and Museum.
