Artifacts Help Tell the Story

January 10, 2011
The Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum tells the story of all the events related to the 1995 bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building, including the arrest, hearings, and trials of Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols. The Museum is the official repository of archival materials and artifacts related to the bombing, and continues to add to its collections as materials are made available. In 2006, Oklahoma Highway Patrol Captain Russell Maples donated to the Museum Archives the set of leg irons used to transport then accused bomber Timothy McVeigh. Captain Maples was one of the officers involved in transporting Timothy McVeigh from Tinker Air Force Base to the Federal Transfer Center at the United States Federal Prison in El Reno, OK.
