Museum Builders...
Jane Thomas

February 10, 2011
It takes a thousand voices to tell a single story...
Ancient Native American proverb
How did this Museum happen? Who put this story together? Those stories are being told daily on our website leading up to the Museum birthday on February 19th.
One consistent thread of piecing the story together was founding curator Jane Thomas. Jane volunteered early on and then was on loan to the Memorial Foundation through the Oklahoma Historical Society before coming on staff full-time in 1996. Jane knew history and knew Oklahoma. She was the perfect fit for making sure the story of the Oklahoma City bombing was preserved for generations. Jane knew when to preserve things and why. She was the official historian of the Memorial Foundation and helped place every artifact in the Museum. She worked tirelessly to make sure the story has been preserved. Listen to Jane as she reflects on the work she guided in preserving history.
Don’t miss the celebration of preserving this story on Saturday, February 19th at noon with cake and ice cream followed by a First Person panel of the Museum Builders at 1:00 p.m. in the Museum. Entry to the Museum is FREE on the 19th courtesy of Devon Energy.
