Libya Releases New York Times Journalists
Including Oklahoman Anthony Shadid

March 21, 2011
The Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum joins the Shadid family and friends and the New York Times in celebrating the release of Oklahoma native Anthony Shadid and three other New York Times journalists. The Libyan government released them today, six days after they were captured while covering the conflict between government and rebel forces there. There were released to Turkish diplomats.
Shadid spoke last in Oklahoma at the Memorial Museum on Saturday, February 26th on the dangers of Reporting Terrorism and spoke extensively about the dangers and trouble in Libya. We look forward to hearing from Shadid in the days ahead.
