Firefighter Bike Team Stops in OKC
A team of firefighter-bicyclists from Los Angeles and Fullerton departments are riding across the country to honor those who lost their lives during the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. The team will make a stop in Oklahoma City this week.
The firefighters began their journey in Hollywood, California on July 24, 2011 and will arrive in New York City at the FDNY Firefighters Memorial on September 9, 2011. According to their website, www.ridefor9-11.org, their goal is raise money for the Leary Firefighters Foundation and the Wounded Warrior Project.
The cycling team plans to arrive at the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum on Friday, August 12, 2011, at approximately 1:15 p.m., in time to hear family member Reverend Wendy Lambert share her story in the Museum’s First Person – Stories of Hope program. The Oklahoma City Fire Department would like to invite members of the Media to attend First Person and this meet and greet between firefighters.
