Fathers Receive Free Admission at Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum Sunday
OKLAHOMA CITY — The Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum will provide free admission to all fathers with paid admission to the Memorial Museum on Father’s Day, Sunday, June 17.
“Father’s Day often provides an avenue for families to gather and to experience places and events they may not normally have the time to do on their own,” said Kari Watkins, executive director. “This is such a powerful place of hope and resilience that we wanted to give all fathers the chance to share it with their families. There is great opportunity to open conversations between generations with the lessons learned through the Memorial.”
All visitors to the Memorial Museum can experience Lincoln: The Constitution and the Civil War, a special exhibit on loan from the National Constitution Center. Lincoln’s struggle to preserve the nation and the Constitution come alive in this exhibition through an engaging blend of imagery, text, multimedia presentations, interactives and actual artifacts.
The Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum was created to honor “those who were killed, those who survived and those changed forever” by the 1995 bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City. The Memorial and Museum are dedicated to educating visitors about the impact of violence, informing about events surrounding the bombing, and inspiring hope and healing through lessons learned by those affected.
The Outdoor Symbolic Memorial is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week and is free of charge. The Memorial Museum is open Monday – Saturday, 9 a.m. – 6 p.m., and Sunday, 1-6p.m. Admission is $8 for adults, $7 for seniors (62+) and $6 for students (5-college with valid ID). Children under 5 are admitted free. Group rates and programs are available. Special exhibits are included in the cost of admission. Ticket sales end at 5 p.m. daily.
