Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon is this Sunday

April 27, 2008

More than 5000 volunteers are readying the eighth edition of the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon, with an expected almost 18,000 runners, walkers, and young marathoners in training for the Sunday, April 27 event.  Often referred to as the “Run to Remember,” this event honors those lost in the April 19, 1995 bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in downtown Oklahoma City.

Serious runners to recreational walkers can choose from five events to participate, including the full Marathon (26.2 miles), Half Marathon, Five-Person Relay, 5K Memorial Walk, Wheelchair Marathon and the always exciting Kid’s Marathon.

If you can't run, you can still participate by cheering on runners from all 50 states and several foreign countries as they make their way along the course through Oklahoma City. The Marathon starts and ends at the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum.
