16,000 Runners Participate in Memorial Marathon

April 27, 2008
In spite of early rain and north winds, more than 16,000 runners lined up to start the eighth annual Memorial Marathon.
The participation set a new record for registration at the event, which has continued to see strong growth each year. Participants came from all 50 states and four foreign countries to run in the Boston Marathon qualifier. Two events, the Relay and the Kid's Marathon, sold out of available spots prior to the race.
4352 runners finished the half-marathon and 1964 runners completed the full marathon. For complete race results, visit www.okcmarathon.com.
The Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon is a completely volunteer-run event, and more than 5000 community members volunteered all along the 26.2 mile course on race day to make the Marathon happen. THANK YOU!
