Oklahoma Standard Lesson Plan Added to Teacher Resources

The next two weeks provide unique opportunities to teach lessons of resilience, respect and personal responsibility as we mark the 18th anniversary of the April 19, 1995, bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building and celebrate life with the running of the 13th annual Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon.

The Oklahoma City bombing is an important historical event for our state and our country, and the Lessons Learned that characterized the response to the bombing remain relevant and important today. The activity below provides suggestions and resources to help you share these events with your students. The Remembrance Ceremony, which includes the observance of 168 seconds of silence to honor those who were killed, will be broadcast live on local television stations, with a live Twitter feed. To include social media components in your teaching, on April 19, please hashtag (#) communication and photos with #ForeverChanged and tag the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum @OKCNM. During the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon, hashtag with #R2R and tag the Marathon @OKCMarathon.
