Memorial Marathon Presents Record Donation!

The Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum celebrated a record setting donation of $983,500 from the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon today. "We are incredibly grateful to our runners, sponsors and volunteers for their continuing support over the past thirteen years. The Marathon has a huge impact on us, that’s why we pour our hearts and souls into it," says the Executive Director of the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum, Kari Watkins.

The Memorial Marathon has grown from 5,000 participants during the inaugural race in 2001 to an all time high of 24,750 runners this year including ten runners who finished the Boston Marathon in Oklahoma City. Since its start, the Memorial Marathon has contributed more than five million dollars to the Memorial & Museum.

"I love this event because it’s so positive. A great tragedy took place here. And just like runners, we have an eye on the past but are always looking forward to the future” says, Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon Race Director, Chet Collier.

The Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum is the sole beneficiary of the event proceeds of the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon. The Memorial is a private non-profit organization and does not receive any annual operating funds from local, state or federal governments.

The Fourteenth Annual Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon is scheduled for April 27, 2014. Registration opens on Labor Day, September 2. For more information on the 2014 Memorial Marathon go to OKCMarathon.com.
