More Than One Million Dollars Donated
to the 9:03 Campaign Fund

July 31, 2013

The Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum announced several gifts to the 9:03 Fund totaling 1.2 million dollars.

"These gifts will grow our endowment and provide resources to further advance the Memorial’s story in different mediums and display artifacts that were not available when we built and opened the Museum in 2001," said Kari Watkins, Executive Director of the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum.

The James M. Cox Foundation's grant totals $513,500. Alex Taylor, Senior Vice President of Field Operations for Cox Communications and great grandson of James M. Cox, the company's founder, spoke about the importance of community. "Today's gift is a direct product of the hard work of our company as well as our customers. We believe in giving back to the places where we do business. Cox Communications is a values driven company. It's amazing how some events in our lives are so tragic but in some strange way expose human nature in many ways we are proud of. These events bring us together."

Additional donations announced today include

  • SONIC, America’s Drive-in $250,000
  • The Green Fund $250,000
  • David and Kirsten Griffin $100,000
  • ONEOK, Inc $75,000
  • St. Anthony Hospital $10,000

"The stories and lessons we learned are more important today than they ever have been. Evil takes many forms but good and the desire to move good forward will always triumph," said John Richels, Past Chairman of the Oklahoma City National Memorial Foundation and 9:03 Fund co-chairman.

To date, the 9:03 Fund totals $12.2 million toward the $15 million goal.
